We didn't get a chance to make out tonight because of your drama, Cyrus! |
Thankfully, the suspense of who was shot was taken care of within the first 20 seconds of the episode. It was James. Poor James. He has been abused in so many ways...he was just trying to do what's right while no one else is. But also, who can really blame Jake. We saw at the end of the episode that he felt remorse for what he did. I gotta admit I shed a tear or two while he sat with James until he died. I love Jake! Even though I feel bad that James had to go, I don't feel bad for Cyrus. All of this is his fault--he really is the dark mark on the whole Grant Administration...he keeps things running, but at what cost? Internally, he has caused nothing but destruction, and eventually those problems will become external. I don't know yet if this will make Cyrus slow down and take a step back, or if it will make him even colder. It will probably be the latter.
Even though we're gonna miss James, I am soooo happy David lived. I really like David, and I like him with Abby. I also like the prospect of Olivia and David working together to fight the corruption in the government (namely B613). I can't believe I'm even going to say this but I absolutely loved everything Rowan said to Olivia tonight...it made me think twice about disliking him so much. All we ever hear about is how Olivia "wears the white hat"; that's the theme of the show. She's a white light surrounded by the darkness and corruption of politics; it makes sense that she should be the one to pull the good out of the rubble (so to speak). Jake, Fitz, Mellie, (maybe) Cyrus, Harrison, Abby, Quinn, (maybe) Charlie...they all deserve a chance to be "saved" (I didn't include David because he could wear a white hat too...which is why they can work together).
Let's talk about one of my favorite storylines of late: new recruit of B613, Quinn Perkins! That poor
You gotta know this psycho isn't too sad about James' death. |
FINALLY Mellie and Andrew got it on. YES. I don't see why Mellie can't get a little action on the side...she's certainly not getting any from Fitz! Andrew treats her with respect; he really cares about her and Mellie needs a man to care about her because she hasn't really experienced that in about 10 years. The only problem is Andrew is Fitz' VP pick so this is some twisted break of the bro code. Not that Fitz wants Mellie for himself.
Quick note: Marie Wallace is terrifying. Why are Olivia's parents so scary?
Next week, the kids are back in town and drama ensues. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that maybe Fitz finds out his father, Jerry, could be his son's father. Who is also Jerry.
Scandal! This show is so appropriately titled!
