Pretty Little Liars 4x24 "A is for Answers"

This show lacks diversity. (in the hair department).
If you haven't noticed, I've skipped reviewing Pretty Little Liars for the past few weeks because I was starting to lose interest again. I had every intention of quitting the show, but Marlene King and the gang swore they would dole out some answers tonight so I decided to give it one last shot. For once, they were actually being honest. Tonight's episode was successful in actually answering a bunch of questions while sneaking in more that will keep them going for another season.

So what answers did we get tonight? For starters, we got Alison--in the flesh--finally telling her friends what happened the night of her "murder". Turns out, Alison has been running from A for a while, and that night she was trying to smoke him/ her out. We can officially rule out Spencer (though she still needs to deal with her addiction issues) and the rest of the "liars", Ezra, Toby, and Mrs. Dilaurentis, Ian, and Mr. Montgomery. Mrs. D is involved with some sort of cover-up--she buried her daughter alive, for goodness sakes--but she didn't try to kill her. At this point I'm thinking it really could be Jason...did anyone else notice how his name was M.I.A tonight? Everyone else was mentioned...even Garrett, but I didn't hear anything about Jason (unless I missed it somehow...if I did let me know in the comments!). I think the twin theory is out...I'm really thinking A is a guy, so it really could be Jason...but I've legitimately speculated everyone at this point.

In another time, with another storyline, I could've shipped them.
Has anyone else noticed that Ezra seems to be the writers' plot device of choice recently? He has been at the center of every scandal and revelation...we find out he's A or board shorts, no wait, he's just a crazy determined writer, now we find out he's trying to help Alison and the girls, and there is actually no way of disliking him now because MAJOR SPOILER ALERT A shot him while he was trying to save the girls from him. How could you not forgive this angelic faced, maybe-crazy person who risked his life for you and gave up almost all of his work to win you back (ARIA) and help you? Obviously Aria was devastated, cradling him in her arms and ugly crying, yet again. I always knew Ezra was good(ish). And Marlene King must know that his character is important to the show's success, because he has gone from secondary character to main cliffhanger two finales in a row. There is no way they will kill him off. It's not gonna happen. The only thing that bullet's gonna do to Ezra is fix his relationship with Aria.

Now let's get to the drama in Rosewood. Crazy Melissa is back (played by the beautiful Torrey DeVitto who recently broke up with Paul Wesley...I am so sorry for your loss, Torrey), and she is once again, a suspect in the audience's eyes. What did she whisper to her dad? Who will the Hastings' protect more, Spencer or Melissa? Why are they both so messed up? Side note, why is Detective Holbrook so hott? What the frick is up with Mrs. Dilaurentis...who is she protecting?? Who is BURYING her at the end of the episode? Is this some sort of twisted revenge for what she did to Ali? And who would care enough to do that? Mona? And was anyone else totally freaked out by Mona in
Only Ali would still look fabulous while being buried alive.
her flashback with Ali? A+ acting Janel Parrish; you played emotionless creep perfectly. I would like some more background on you, too.

So it seems like I have a lot of questions, and I do, but that's what Pretty Little Liars does, it raises questions. The problem is usually no one answers them. If the show keeps finding ways to progress the storylines like they have in 4B, then maybe I won't be so frustrated all the time. Ali back in the gang should open up a whole new can of worms...it could make things fresh again.

The biggest question I had after watching tonight: Girls, you had the gun, you could've shot A when he jumped over to the other building...he was just chillin' there for a minute. If you had the chance to kill the proposed murderer who has been harassing you and your friends and just shot Ezra love-of-my-life Fitz, wouldn't you? Of course you would, but you didn't. Why? (Say it with me: It wasn't in the script, the show would be over, blah blah blah)

Bonus quote of the week: "What's N.A.T. stand for? Need a therapist?" Hahaha Ali you crack me up.

See you in June! #EzraISalive
